Effects of Microencapsulated Blend of Organic Acids and Pure Botanicals on the Ruminal Microbiota in an In Vitro Dual-Flow Continuous Culture System

The objective of the study was to evaluate effects dietary supplementation a microencapsulated blend organic acids and pure botanicals (mOAPBs) on solid- liquid-associated microenvironment (SAM LAM, respectively) ruminal microbiome using an in vitro dual-flow continuous culture system. Ruminal content incubated eight fermenters basal diet supplemented with increasing levels mOAPBs (0; 0.12; 0.24; or 0.36% DM) which contained 55.6% hydrogenated refined palm oil, 25% citric acid, 16.7% sorbic 1.7% thymol, 1% vanillin. All diets had similar nutritional composition (16.1 CP, 30.9 NDF, 32.0 starch, % DM basis). After 7 days adaptation, pooled sample across collected each period for identification SAM LAM. There no effect mOAPB alpha-, beta-diversity, microbial abundance. greater bacterial diversity principal component analysis demonstrated that it divergent profile from Additionally, increased abundance carbohydrate-degrading microorganisms.
